That's a good birthday present to me when I slide into 82. My only surprise birthday party was in Gilmanton when I turned 40 (42 years ago). I think it was that year when Christmas brought cross country skis for the whole family. That year I took ten days off and we skied every day without leaving town. It was something that everyone in the family could do on some level.
